Tips for going on your first campervan/motorhome trip

by | Feb 2, 2022 | Blog & Guides

Every adventure starts with a plunge into the unknown, with no expectations as to how it will turn out in the end.

Travelling in a camper or motorhome allows you to visit many amazing places, whilst in the comfort of modern luxuries!

If you’re yet to head on this adventure yourself, here are 5 tips to keep in mind when planning your trip.

  • Campervan or Motorhome?

We have 5 different vehicle specifications available for hire, so it is important to consider how many berths you need and what on board facilities you’ll want.

A berth is a designated sleeping area in a Campervan or Motorhome, but with AVR you can even add a decent-sized awning to serve as an extra room where you can sleep or relax if additional space is required.

Our campervans sleep 4 and motorhomes range from 4-6 berth.

The second consideration should be what facilities do you require within the vehicle itself?

AVR’s campervans come complete with kitchen and storage space. However, if this is your first-time camping, you may prefer a purpose-built motorhome with onboard shower and toilet facilities, larger kitchen with oven/grill and double beds.

  • Take Advantage of the Flexibility

Whilst planning your first adventure will help you feel more prepared, keep an open mind whilst on the road. A huge benefit to traveling on wheels is the freedom it provides!

It is good to consider some campsite options before setting off, but once you have that information, go with the flow and create memories from the adventure you lead. Just remember to book a campsite at least every third night so you can hook the vehicle up and get some charge into the leisure battery.

  • Don’t forget the essentials

A Campervan/Motorhome is great for adventures, but not so easy to nip to the shop for that forgotten item – especially if you’re set up at camp for the night!

AVR’s vans are fully equipped with kitchen utensil essentials, but don’t forget to stock up your fridge before setting off. Burgers just aren’t the same without the bread.

The vans have plenty of storage, so make sure you maximise on the space to allow you to venture to more remote destinations without worrying about your next pit stop.

Adventure Van Rental also offers bedding, towels, cooler boxes, BBQ/grill and table and chair sets for hire, meaning its one, (or five), less things for you to remember!

  • Don’t forget your Furry Friends!

Don’t want to leave your furry friend behind?  You’re in luck as we are pet friendly at Adventure Van Rental and therefore, pets are welcome in our vehicles, at a small additional charge per pet per booking.

  • Enjoy yourself!

Lastly, grab your favourite friends, family and pets and set off on your first campervan/motorhome experience!
