Now is the right time to start planning your motorhome trips! Nothing’s more exciting than planning to visit different destinations to experience all they have to offer. Well, heading out and visiting these places may be more exciting, but planning is still fun!

We’ve gathered a list of the top motorhome holiday destinations that may surprise you! These may be new places for you to visit and explore. Let’s get started!

1. Pécs, Hungary

Pécs may seem like an unusual place to visit in a motorhome, but that’s why we chose this destination! This is one of the top places to visit in Hungary. The city is located between the Danube to the east and the Dráva to the south. When combined with its sheltered location from the northern winds by the Mecsek Hills, you’ll notice that the area in and around the city creates a pleasant microclimate.

The microclimate makes the summers in this area a little longer, ensuring fruit has plenty of time to grow and ripen. And don’t miss out on the amazing almonds produced in this area. They’re delicious, and you’ll definitely want to bring bags of almonds home for your family and friends.

In the city, you’ll want to visit the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter, which was built in 2010. The area is divided into four quarters, comprising craftsman, family & children’s, creative, and university. The area is a wonderful place to enjoy a pleasant walk.

If you love museums, you won’t be disappointed in Pécs. The city is home to the Modern Hungarian Gallery, the Zsolnay Porcelain Museum, and many others. While you’re wandering the beautiful streets of Pécs, don’t forget to grab a brilliant glass of wine. The wines in this area are said to be some of the best in the country!

2. Isle of Skye, Scotland

A little closer to home is the magical Isle of Skye, Scotland. Here, again, you may not have dreamt of taking your motorhome to this location for a holiday; however, there are ferries that make the journey easy and safe.

The island is the largest of the Inner Hebrides and is home to some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes. This makes for a perfect motorhome destination. Nature and Scotland’s landscapes are famous around the world. Driving around the island, you’ll be able to take in the rugged landscape. But don’t forget to get out and walk. You may want to try the Quiraing walking path!

While you’re on the island, don’t hesitate to check out the history and learn about life here. Take it all in at the Skye Museum of Island Life.

Another great place to visit here is Loch Dunvegan. This area includes amazing vistas, views of seals, and it overlooks MacLeods Table, which is two flat hills that dominate the beautiful skyline. The site has clean facilities and is famous for their friendly staff. This location easily allows you to visit the entire area at your own pace. And you’ll have a lovely place to stay each evening!

3. Munich, Germany

Another famous motorhome destination is Munich, Germany. This busy city is the capital of Bavaria and is famous for its beautiful architecture. Most of the historic buildings have been rebuilt, as many were heavily damaged during WWII. The city center is a replica of how it appeared in the late 1880s and here, you’ll find the largest church, the Frauenkirche, and the city hall, Neues Rathaus.

The city is also the leader in culture in Germany, with museums that are even said to be better than those in Berlin. You may want to consider visiting the Museum Brandhorst, where you’ll find modern works of art by Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, and many others. The museum has wide, open galleries and white walls. And if you go there on Sundays, the entrance fee is cheaper than on other days of the week.

There are many campsites around Munich, where you can enjoy a comfortable place to stay!

4. Yellowstone National Park, USA

Here’s a motorhome trip that will take you to the other side of the pond. We’re talking about the bucket list motorhome destination of Yellowstone National Park in the US.

There’s much to see and do in the park and surrounding areas. You’re sure to have surprises and adventures at each turn. And you’ll be happy to learn there are many motorhome parks and campsites (called RV parks or RV resorts) where you can stay. There are also motorhome campsites inside the park.

In the park, be sure to visit the Upper Geyser Basin. Here, you’ll find the famous Old Faithful geyser, along with hundreds of other geysers. The geyser area has walkways and biking paths that take you through the geysers and amazing landscapes.

Don’t forget to take in the animals while you’re at Yellowstone! You may be lucky enough to see some of the thousands of bison that call the park home. And some days, there are grizzly and black bears whose antics you can enjoy. Just remember to stay at least 25 yards (at least) away from the animals to view them or take photographs.

One note—it’s best to make reservations to enter the park well in advance of your visit. The same applies to booking your campsite; otherwise, you won’t have a place to stay!

5. Luosto, Finland

A little closer to home, our next destination is Luosto, Finland. Luosto is a brilliant destination for anyone who wants to see the Northern Lights without having to travel too far north. You’ll be happy to learn that the Northern Lights can be seen about 200 nights a year in this small village.

Luosto is about 110 km north of Rovaniemi and is in the heart of the Pyhä-Luosto National Park. This area is an ideal location with its closeness to nature and the quiet that goes with it. If you like snowmobiling, this area is much fun in the winter! You can also bring your own sled and dogs to enjoy the scenery!

Another place to visit within the park is the Amethyst mine. You can see this beautiful gemstone and even dig for stone yourself! The village also features a ski resort so that you can spend time on the slopes. This is the perfect place for a motorhome ski holiday!
