What is your policy regarding any further COVID-19 restrictions?
We recognise that this is a challenging time for all of us and as such we want to be fair and flexible in this regard. Therefore, should there be an enforced lockdown in place, which prevents your booking going ahead then we are happy for you to either transfer your booking to an alternative date or to cancel your trip with a full refund. If you choose to transfer your booking to an alternative date and this moves your booking into a different seasonal pricing period then the appropriate difference in hire charge will either be payable by you or will be credited to you by us.
Can I come to see the vehicles before booking?
Yes we are happy to show you the vehicles inside and out in order to help you choose which is best for you. Please arrange the viewing ahead to avoid a wasted journey in the event that they are all hired out.
What equipment is included with the vehicle as standard?
We provide the following items as standard with all vehicles. 1 x full gas bottle, electrical hook up lead, night heater (campers), 6KW heating (motorhomes), water tank, sink, burner hob, fridge, cutlery/crockery set (includes cups, saucers, plates, bowls, glasses and cutlery set), pan set, kettle, chopping board, tea towel, dish cloth, washing up liquid, dustpan & brush. The vehicles have a series of guides showing how all the appliances and equipment work.
The motorhomes also come with a fitted bike rack, 21″ TV, WiFi, oven/grill, shower, WC and vanity unit.
Are the campers & motorhomes difficult to drive?
All of our camper vans are based on the Ford Transit Custom Active. They are all short wheelbase, which are medium-sized vans, and all are less than a year old. The Custom makes a very convincing case for itself as a car. It is comfortable and great to drive, roomy with loads of kit and surprisingly low running costs.
Our motorhomes are based on the Ford Transit chassis. They are relatively compact, in particular the Zefiro 665. They have manufacturer fitted reversing cameras to assist you. The main difference between these are driving a car is to be aware of the length and height of the vehicle. With a little bit of time and care you will find them a comfortable and easy drive.
We provide a full vehicle handover and demonstration when you collect the vehicle, please allow an hour for this, and in our experience customers who haven’t driven one before will feel confident within 15 minutes and we will even accommodate a short test drive for those who wish.
How long does collection and return take?
Please allow an hour for collection and return to enable us to provide you with a thorough vehicle handover and demonstration and a thorough vehicle return check at the end of your trip. During the handover we will show you how the vehicle, its appliances and equipment work and complete the necessary documentation.
To assist a smooth vehicle return check, please ensure that the vehicle has a full tank of fuel, all contents of the camper as per the inventory are present and that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as when you collected it, including the appliances. If you have hired a motorhome, please also ensure that the toilet cassette and cassette housing has been emptied and thoroughly cleaned.
How many people can sleep in the campers & motorhomes?
All of our vehicles have a simple sleep icon for each vehicle under browse vehicles, which illustrates the berth. We also have drive-away awnings available for hire so you can increase the living space and provide a sleeping compartment. However, please note that only those people named in your booking can occupy the vehicle overnight. If you hire an awning then additional (unnamed) guests who have travelled by their own means can stay overnight in the awning but cannot occupy the vehicle overnight.
How long can the camper vans operate without a mains hook up?
The camper vans will operate without a mains hook up for 3 or 4 days.
Do you have automatic transmission vehicles?
Yes we have both manual and automatic transmission campers and motorhomes, subject to availability.
Can you give me some ideas regarding where I could take a camper or motorhome?

Can I bring my bike?
Of course you can. The motorhomes come with a fitted bike rack as standard, which can accommodate up to 4 bikes (75kg total weight). With regard the campervans we can provide bike racks for up to 4 bikes (60kg total weight) as a trip extra for an additional charge.
Can I bring my pet?
Yes of course, we are pet friendly at Adventure and therefore pets are welcome but there will be an additional charge of £25 per pet per booking. We also reserve the right to charge extra if pet hair or odour requires extensive cleaning. We politely ask that you please endeavour to keep pets off of all soft furnishings and ensure that all soft furnishings are covered.
What insurance is provided and are there any restrictions?
Insurance is provided only for the vehicle and for any equipment that comes with the vehicle. As standard the vehicle has comprehensive insurance for up to three named drivers, providing that the drivers have held a full UK or EU licence for a minimum of 2 years and are aged between 25 and 70. All named drivers are required to meet additional specific insurance requirements, details of which can be found in our Self Drive Hire Agreement. The insurance does not cover windscreen, windows, tyres, wheels, the undercarriage or your personal belongings. You will therefore be liable for the full cost of damage to these.
Do I need to take out any insurance?
We recommend that customers obtain adequate holiday / travel insurance and personal effects insurance in order to cover any unforeseen circumstances, accidents and events beyond yours and our control. You may want to consult your own vehicle, home and/or travel insurance providers to establish whether you already have sufficient cover in place.
What time can I collect and return the vehicle?
Your collection time will be between 0900 and 1300 on the day your hire period commences, we will agree a specific collection time in advance as collections will need to be staggered throughout this window in busy periods. You will need to return the vehicle between 0900 and 1200 on the day your hire period ends. We may be able to arrange a late return by prior agreement and subject to additional charges of £30 per hour. Please note that unauthorised late returns will incur additional charges in accordance with our Self Drive Hire Agreement and will inconvenience the next customer.
When do I pay?
You will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit of £150 at the time of booking in order to secure your booking and this will be documented in the booking confirmation we email to you. The balance is due 6 weeks ahead of the date the hire commences, failing which we reserve the right to rent out the vehicle to someone else, and you will forfeit your booking deposit. We will email you to remind you to pay your balance via your online account created at the time of booking.
What documentation do I need to provide?
For each named driver we require sight of your Driving Licence and Driving Licence check code, which you can obtain from the DVLA under the “Get your check code” tab at https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence. This enables us to carry out the necessary checks prior to hire and ensure all runs smoothly on the date your hire commences.
For each named driver we also require two utility bills/statements less than 90 days old such as water, electric/gas, broadband, landline. Alternatively, you can provide one utility bill/statement plus one of council tax bill, TV licence, bank or credit card statement, mortgage statement.
The addresses on your driving licence and identification documents must be identical and your current permanent address, otherwise we may not be able to insure your booking, in which case your booking would be treated as a cancellation by the hirer in line with our Self Drive Hire Agreement.
We encourage our customers to provide these documents 7-10 days in advance of their hire period commencing via their account on our website, this will help to avoid any mishaps on the day of collection. Once you have made your booking we will send you email reminders to prompt you to provide these documents/information.
Is there a minimum hire period?
The minimum hire period is 3 nights and the maximum hire period is 30 nights.
Do I have to pay a security deposit?
Yes we require a security deposit of £1,000, which must be paid in cleared funds (by bank transfer or by credit/debit card) before the hire commences. This is to cover items such as, but not limited to, damage/loss to the vehicle/equipment, fines or legal charges you incur during the hire (such as parking fines, speeding fines, road tolls, etc), the possibility that the vehicle is returned late, the possibility that the vehicle is returned without a full tank of fuel, the possibility that the vehicle is not returned in a clean and satifactory condition. We will return the security deposit via bank transfer, net of any deductions (should there be any), within 7 working days of the end of your hire period. Please refer to our Self Drive Hire Agreement for full details of our security deposit policy.
How do I book?
Bookings are made via our website, where you can browse our vehicles, check the dates that they are available and go ahead and book if we have availability on the dates that you are looking for. During the online booking process you can add trip extras (such as EU travel, awning, bike rack, pets) and provide us with up to 3 named drivers. We will email you a booking confirmation setting out the specifics of your booking.
Can I hire a camper or motorhome over the winter?
Of course, all our camper vans have night heaters installed as standard and our motorhomes have 6KW heaters.
What is your fuel policy?
The fuel tank will be full on collection, and must be returned to us full. Fuel is at the hirer’s expense and not included in the charges. Please see our Self Drive Hire Agreement for full details of our fuel policy.
Is there a mileage limit?
No chance, we want you to Adventure to your heart’s content.
Can I take the vehicle out of the Britain?
European Union travel is permitted by prior arrangement and is subject to additional charges of £85 per week or part thereof. The standard insurance included with the vehicle hire does not enable travel outside of mainland Britain unless we inform our insurer. The vehicle is fitted with a tracker such that we know where it is at all times. European travel can be added, subject to charges, in the optional extra’s section of the website booking journey. If this cover is required, please ensure that you review the list of countries that we can provide cover for. If you are planning to visit a country that is not on the list then please contact us before booking and we will check whether our insurer can cover that country and if there will be an additional charge to do so. We cannot accept liability if you have planned to visit a country that we cannot secure insurance cover for. You will also have to obtain a VE103 Vehicle on Hire Certificate, please allow sufficient time to obtain this.
How many drivers are allowed?
As standard you can nominate up to three drivers per vehicle subject to insurance requirements (see our Self Drive Hire Agreement). We do not charge for drivers two and three.
What if I have a non-UK driving licence?
We can accept full UK and EU licences as standard. If you have an alternative licence then please send an enquiry to email@example.com and we’ll see if we can arrange cover. Please note there might be additional charges if we are able to secure cover.
What do I need to bring on the day I collect the vehicle?
You have the option to bring your own bedding, pillow, sleeping bag and towels, although we can provide these to hire/buy if you wish, please see our trip extras page. Additionally you will need to bring your own food, drink and toiletries. Please bear in mind storage space is limited.
Assuming you have provided all identification documents (see question on documentation our Self Drive Hire Agreement) in advance of the day the hire period commences you, and all named drivers, will need to bring your photocard driving licence or passport if you have an old style driving licence, such that we can carry out a physical likeness check of each named driver to the photo. If you haven’t provided all identification documents ahead of the hire period commencing you will also need to bring the documentation referred to in the documentation question above (or see our Self Drive Hire Agreement).
Can you pick me up from an alternative location such as an airport or train station?
Yes, by prior arrangement, we are happy to pick you up providing the pick-up location is within 5 miles of our registered address, Unit 9 Baildon Business Park, Otley Road, Baildon, Bradford, United Kingdom, BD17 7AX. Leeds Bradford Airport, Baildon train station, Shipley train station and Guiseley train station are all within 5 miles of us.
Can I leave my car at your premises?
Yes we are happy to store one car per booking free of charge during your hire period, though we ask that you advise us in advance if you would like us to do so, which you can do during the booking. Should you want us to store your car, it will be parked at our registered address. During the day it will be parked outside, overnight it will be parked in our secure unit. Though we must advise, we cannot accept responsibility for the loss of, or damage to, your vehicle or its contents, whilst it is stored with us, unless such damage or loss is caused by our negligence. We can arrange for your car to be valeted while you are away by prior agreement.
Can you arrange for me to collect and/or return the vehicle from/to an alternative location?
By prior agreement we may be able to deliver and pick up the vehicle at the start and end of the hire period, subject to a charge of £1.85 per mile from our registered address (Unit 9 Baildon Business Park, Otley Road, Baildon, Bradford, United Kingdom, BD17 7AX) to the agreed delivery/pick up address. The charge would be per mile for both the delivery and pick up.
What if the vehicle breaks down?
All our vehicles are under one year old and well maintained meaning that breakdown is unlikely. However, in this unlikely event, our vehicles have 24 hour Ford Assistance cover as standard. This includes cover anywhere in Europe. If you have any problems with the onboard appliances/equipment please refer in the first instance to the onboard guides and/or contact us for advice.
Can I smoke in the vehicle?
No, we politely advise that it is forbidden to smoke or vape inside the vehicle or awning and we ask that this rule is respected. You will be liable for any damage (including odour) caused to either, or their contents, through smoking.
What if I want to cancel?
You are able to cancel but as a minimum you will forfeit your booking deposit of £150. Please refer to our Self Drive Hire Agreement for details of our cancellation policy.
