Surfing in Style

There are few better places to learn to surf in the UK than Cornwall, which is renowned for its scenic coastline and great waves. Learn new skills or develop existing ones with a surfing package. You will find a number of amazing surfing schools that can offer lessons at every level for friends and family for half days or full days. At Adventure Van Rental we always aim to design the vehicles with flexibility in mind. If you want to take your surfboards, bikes, tents simply let us know and we can set the vehicle up to make your adventure happen.

Where the stars go

With almost 300 miles of coastline, Cornwall is a water sports paradise and the surfing capital of the UK. Pretty much every water sport is on offer here – windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, the list is endless. Love it or hate it, Newquay is probably Cornwall’s most famous town. The surf is up, the nightlife is brash and the tourists come here in droves. It’s a great place to go for some fun, to learn to surf or maybe take in a festival or two. Newquay Zoo is one of the best around. For more suggestions, take a look at the Ultimate Cornwall Visitor Guide where the county’s tourism insiders share their own favourite things to do.

With its wild moorland, dramatic coastline, sandy beaches and picture perfect villages, Cornwall is a stunningly beautiful place to visit on holiday.

Make it up as you go

There are loads of great surfing beaches in Cornwall depending on your experience and, of course, the surf. Our top pick goes to Polzeath in Hayle Bay, which is one of Cornwall’s most popular surfing beaches and is also renowned worldwide for its surfing conditions. The beach has a fun atmosphere and there is good camping nearby. Lifeguards are present during summer and surfboards and wetsuits can be hired at the beach. There are also many excellent coastal walks around the area and the sister beach known as New Polzeath is a good place for swimmers who want to avoid the surfboards.

Cornwall is famous for the quality and variety of its beaches. The long, exposed stretches of sand on the north coast, such as Perranporth and Godrevy, provide excellent surfing conditions and are great places to walk on a stormy winter’s day. The more sheltered sandy coves of the south coast, such as Porthcurno and Praa Sands, offer excellent swimming and protection from cold northerly winds. Remote beaches such as Harlyn and Kynance offer the chance to really get away from it all, while bustling town beaches, such as Marazion and Porthmeor, are great places to spend the day, with plenty of cafes, restaurants and galleries within easy walking distance.

These wonderful beaches should definitely be added to the itinerary of anyone visiting Cornwall and hiring through Adventure Van Rental will give you the freedom to take them all in.
